My involvement in community organizations has given me a thorough understanding of how Norwood works, of its strengths, its character, and its remarkable potential. My 25 years in marketing communications has given me the skills to accurately define core issues, collaborate on finding solutions, and effectively communicate those solutions Norwood citizens.

Property values: Work with the Law Department to give the Building Department sharper legal teeth to more effectively enforce codes and hold irresponsible property owners liable for their actions or, more appropriately, their inaction.

Strong pubic services: Assure all departments are properly funded by providing critical oversight of spending to assure funds are properly assigned and spending closely accounted for.

Infrastructure: Advocate for moving beyond the mentality of "crisis management" of the aging systems under our streets to a coherent program of carefully considered, planned infrastructure improvements.

Answer from Steve Thornbury:

For too long, Norwood has been thought of as an insular, isolated community that wishes to distance itself from the broader concerns of the region. Often as not, that image has been reinforced by many of our government officials' less-than-enthusiastic attitude toward involvement in various regional and inter-governmental efforts.

The effects of this isolationist attitude range from the obvious to the insidious. One of the most damaging effects is the near-complete lack of coverage of Norwood in our local papers and broadcast media. In particular, the failure to feature positive stories of our many local organizations means that, while other communities across Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky receive significant coverage, Hamilton County's second-largest municipality is virtually ignored.

As a member of Norwood City Council I will actively seek-out opportunities to add Norwood's voice to regional discussions on issues ranging from crime prevention, public health, development, public transportation, and road construction.
