1. What are your qualifications for office? (50 word limit)

Answer from Pat Andwan:
1990 BS in Management and Accounting; 30+ years of property management experience, both residential (2006>2007 managed Village owned properties) and commercial (shopping centers and office); owned and managed rental property in the Village since 1976; ran a remodeling business for 20+ years; certified home and mold inspector.
Answer from Kenny R. Burck:
I am a 39-year resident of Greenhills having lived in the B-C-D-I blocks and on Carina, was Captain of the Greenhills Fire Dept. and Lifesquad. Now retired after 20 years active service and serving on Village Council since 1989. I love the Village of Greenhills.
Answer from Jerry K. Mills:
I have lived in Greenhills almost 22 years. I volunteeer for community projects such as passing out new resident kits, watering and weeding community gardens, and litter pick up. I appreciate our history and try to pass it on to others.
Answer from L. Christine (Henderson) Visnich:
I have served on Greenhills Council for 10 years and made many contributions which have benefited the community. Several are: initiated annual Council planning retreats; originated "Concert On the Commons"; led the search for a new Police Chief; have been a strong leader and supporter of our economic redevelopment.

2. What plans do you have to address your top three priorities? (100 word limit)

Answer from Kenny R. Burck:
I will support all productive community groups and the village service department. I strongly support the current village redevelopment plan to remove older apartment buildings that cannot easily be renovated and replace them with quality single family (or multi-family) buildings. I support more owner-occupied single family residences where possible.
Answer from Pat Andwan:
1. FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY via compliance following Ohio State Auditor recommendations and guidelines. Competitive bidding should be the rule, not the exception. Hire top-notch municipal manager, gifted in grant writing. Village tenants pay timely market rent rates. Eliminate nepotism - hire qualified productive employees. Practice open government and tap into the citizen volunteer talent pool.
2. PROMOTE VILLAGE-WIDE PROPERTY IMPROVEMENT via enforcement of local building and zoning codes. Follow fair housing policies to attract good citizens. Foster owner purchase of rehabbed Village town homes.
3. CREATE A NEW CITIZEN-DRIVEN MASTER PLAN respecting our historic roots and looking toward the future.
Answer from Jerry K. Mills:
1. I propose sensible redevelopment in our Village by renovating and reconfiguring the buildings in our historic district rather than demolishing them and replacing them with inappropriate infill housing.
2. I support improvements in the appearance of our Village by landscaping and other beautification efforts such as additional planting of trees and more stringent litter control.
3. I propose, to increase community involvement, that ordinances being considered by our council be conveyed to the public in a more proactive way and within an adequate time frame to allow citizen input before the ordinance is voted on.
Answer from L. Christine (Henderson) Visnich:
I currently am managing a search for a new Municipal Manager. I will coordinate the entire hiring process with Council. I will continue to play a key role in helping with the transition of the retiring Manager and orientation of and support for the new Manager. For the past three years, Council has been allowing our developer and the Municipal Manager set the pace of the redevelopment. I will lighten my schedule to allow more time to become more pro-active in driving the development. I will take the lead in reviewing and enforcing all ordinances pertinent to community upkeep.

3. State three actions that you recommend to promote regional cooperation, and explain how you would implement each action? (150 word limit)

Answer from L. Christine (Henderson) Visnich:
Greenhills has active mutual aide agreements with neighboring communities and has been an active participant and leader to the First Suburbs organization, to the county police, fire and Homeland Security efforts and other municipal management organizations. Our own citizens may not be aware of how much we are involved. We need to raise the visibility of this service to our own and neighboring communities to assure their continued support.
As our economic redevelopment continues, we are increasingly approached by other suburbs who want to learn from our experience. We need to document this so it can be done efficiently.
Many of the suburbs in our region are faced with common problems. We all need to be in communication, helping each other work through them. The success or failure of any community impacts all of us. Keeping our community media services strong plays a positive role in this effort.
Answer from Pat Andwan:
1. PARKS, RECREATION & SERVICES Our Village is nestled within Winton Woods parklands. Take advantage of the Hamilton County Park District's willingness to develop the Village pocket parks. Greenbelt, Maryland has 26 wonderfully equipped playgrounds. Village parents and kids long for safe play equipment near their homes. Grant monies and corporate sponsors can make this dream a reality. Strike an agreement to have the Village lawn care contracted to park employees who are mowing, plowing, etc + or at least share equipment.
2. SHOPPING CENTER Assist the owner with upgrading the Village-owned parking areas. Provide land for Winton Road pylon signage. Landscape between Winton Road and the street/parking lot area. Get on-board with the Winton Road corridor development. Coupled with regional economic development marketing to attract desirable destination businesses/office tenants establishing a vibrant regional attraction.
3. HISTORIC HERITAGE + Be proud of Greenhills and spread the word far and wide!!
Answer from Jerry K. Mills:
1. Consolidation of purchases where feasible - Regionally purchase such things as road salt, highway cones, and other things that can be obtained in larger quantities that result in reduced costs for all.
2. Shared resources - Regionally share resources at reduced costs to member communities. As an example, if one community has an idle street sweeper, the sweeper can be loaned to another community that can not afford a street sweeper of its own.
3. Tourism based on history - Regionally develop tourism by having local communities showcase their history with self-guided tours. Patrons of these tours could pick up the maps from the branches of the Hamilton County Library, local municipal offices, or local historical societies.
