I will work to update the City Charter to increase citizens' rights.
As part of my experience in trying to get a public forum or a vote regarding the municipal pool last summer, I discovered that Wyoming's City Charter is deficient in many respects. Citizens should have certain rights, such as filing a referendum, to stop major decisions involving large capital outlays until a vote is held, and our Charter does not allow this. Furthermore, other changes need to be made to protect the rights of citizens and provide for a more balanced distribution of power between the City Administration, the Council, and the citizens. If elected, I will work to see that Wyoming's Charter is studied and then updated with the appropriate changes to protect citizens' rights and provide a voice for citizens on major financial decisions.
