Vote for Arnold S. Bellush for Loveland City CouncilBy Arnold S. BellushCandidate for Council Member; City of Loveland | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
This is a brief summary of my qualifications, my priorities and my experience. My name is Arnold Bellush and I am a candidate for the Loveland City Council. If elected I pledge to "Listen to the People". Elected officials must be responsive and accountable to the voters. Whether you live in Warren, Clermont or Hamilton County, I promise to listen to you and hear what you have to say. My priorities as a member of the Loveland City Council will be to insure public safety, expand and maintain the public infrastructure, and plan for orderly future growth in accordance with the accepted Master Plan. I propose to improve the safety of the residents and visitors to the City of Loveland by improving Loveland-Miamiville Rd. from the stop light at the St. Columban church intersection, past the Loveland school, to the city limits. By applying for State Grant money, I believe this project, which has been talked about for years, could finally be undertaken. Loveland should extend the existing sidewalk so it connects Clermont neighborhoods to the Bike Trail. Residents need a safe crossing of the Bike Trail on East Broadway Street. Reduced visibility makes this crossing unsafe, especially at dusk. A well marked crossing with flashing signals, similar to the safe crossing of the Bike Trail on East Loveland Avenue will protect runners, walkers and bikers by alerting drivers. One of the most critical issues today facing the City is the pending revision to our service contract with the Metropolitan Sewer District. The future of the City of Loveland depends on our ability to provide utilities to designated growth areas. This growth will provide an additional tax base and increase tax revenues in excess of municipal costs. Improved quality of life, economic development, increased municipal services and a reduced tax burden on current residents depends on our ability to provide sewer and water utilities to our planned growth zones. We must not let the MSD dictate our future. We must regain control of our utilities; both their planning and permitted access. Because of my extensive experience in public service, I will be able to successfully serve the City of Loveland over the next four years. Having served as a County Sewer Commissioner, as a Township Committeeman and as an Assistant to the Director of Water Resources, I have the experience and knowledge to represent the City of Loveland in the upcoming negotiations with the Metropolitan Sewer District. It was because of my previous public service that I was able, during the public hearings on the proposed high density condominium development of "Summit Pointe", to challenge the City Council to adhere to the current master plan and its stated goal of maintaining low density for all new development. I reminded the council of the importance of preserving open space, a rural atmosphere and maintaining the water quality of the Little Miami River. By insisting that the Loveland City Council listen to the people, I, together with my neighbors, successfully convinced the City Council to reduce the density from the originally proposed 92 units to a more reasonable 58. If elected, I pledge "To Listen To The People". On Tuesday, November 6th, please cast your vote for Arnold S. Bellush for Loveland City Council. Put my decades of experience in public service and local government to work for the City of Loveland. I served as the Technical Assistant to the Director of Water Resources of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. I was elected to a three year term as a Manalapan Township Committeeman. I served 8 years as the Chairman and a Commissioner of the Western Monmouth Utilities Authority which provided tertiary sewage treatment for several towns in New Jersey. Today I live in the Brandywine Community with my wife, Sandra, and our two dogs, Maggie and Grace. With Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Chemistry from Long Island University and Adelphi University, and graduate courses in Engineering at Princeton University, I have the science and technical education to understand the issues facing the City of Loveland. I am currently retired after teaching Physics for 32 years at Stuyvesant High School in New York City. My time is my own, and I pledge to spend that time keeping the City of Loveland a great place to live. On Tuesday, November 6th, please cast your vote for Arnold S. Bellush for Loveland City Council. Thank you. |
