1. What are your qualifications for office? (50 word limit)
10 years experience in municipal government Successfully lead Golf Manor's revitalization effort including updating zoning code, two urban renewal plans, park renovation, business district revitalization, street resurfacing project, expanded police department, community beautification, and economic development initiatives Management skills that promote operational efficiency2. What plans do you have to address your top three priorities? (100 word limit)
Encourage investment in the community by residents, business enterprises, and village government. Build tax base through economic development and community revitalization programs. Village government must lead by example, via investments in infrastructure and civic improvements, which create a positive image of the village and an environment conducive to investors. Continue vigorous enforcement of strict property maintenance standards. Maintain the current strong commitment to crime prevention, law enforcement, and improved community relations. Stabilize village finances via building tax base, better financial planning, and improved operational efficiency. Continue outreach to residents and businesses via the community newsletter, and meetings with business leaders.3. State three actions that you recommend to promote regional cooperation, and explain how you would implement each action? (150 word limit)
Create an office of economic development at the County level with staff and resources available to all political jurisdictionsCreate a land bank with a revolving fund available to all political jurisdictions to redevelop abandoned residential properties
Pass a County law that requires jurisdictions to address property maintenance issues negatively impact neighboring communities, who uphold higher standards
All three of these ideas could be implemented by creating a County agency funded via the profits from successful redevelopment projects
