Candidate for
Member, City Council; City of Culver City

In 2002, Christopher Armenta was elected to be the Culver City Clerk with an impressive 63% of the vote citywide. Four years later, he was unopposed in his campaign for re-election. As City Clerk, Chris has been responsible for conducting municipal elections, keeping official records at all City Council meetings, and handling all public records and documents. During his 6 years in this position, he has successfully run 2 elections, made annual budget recommendations to the City Council in order to save limited city money, put more resources on the website, and been present at nearly every City Council meeting to ensure that the people are heard and that accurate records are recorded.

Chris is a graduate of Culver City High School and California State University, Los Angeles with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and Accounting. He has worked for 16 years as a Senior Business Tax Advisor and Tax Law Instructor for the State of California. In addition, he has worked for 5 years as an Individual and Business Tax Advisor for the Federal Government. His experience in government finance and accounting will help him to make sound fiscal decisions on the City Council and save taxpayer money.

Chris is a 30 year resident of Culver City and has been active throughout the community. He served as a Youth Commissioner and Coach for the Culver City AYSO Youth Soccer Program and as a State Response and Recovery Earthquake Volunteer. He was a co-sponsor with many of his fellow Culver City elected officials of the first community celebration of Martin Luther King's birthday in 2003. And Chris is a member of many important Culver City organizations including the Homeowners Association, Historical Society, Friends of the Library, League of Women Voters, Friends of the Dog Park, Education Foundation, Sister City, High School Alumni Association, Friends of the Youth Health Center, Council PTA, and Friends of Culver City Animals.

Chris lives in the East Culver City neighborhood with his wife, Colleen Ward, son Alex, and dog Buster Brown.
