Political Philosophy for Andrew N. "Andy" Weissman
Candidate for |
I will not allow our infrastructure to be overwhelmed by unrestricted development. Our streets can only handle so much traffic. We only have so much water and power. I pride myself on being pragmatic, thoughtful, respectful and a good listener. My capacity to lead is marked by a willingness to listen to divergent interests in order to make policy decisions that are in the best interests of the community. I have demonstrated in over 30 years of community service that I am able to work with anyone interested in doing what is best for Culver City. I am committed to maintaining the high level of police, fire and municipal services Culver City residents expect. I understand the magnitude and complexity of the challenges the City faces and will promote responsible economic development to generate the revenues necessary to pay for those services. I have the experience to confront regional issues, such as traffic and congestion, from my first day as a Councilmember. I grew up in Culver City when we had the finest parks and recreation programs in California. Our children and grandchildren deserve the finest park system and the most diverse cultural arts programming we can provide. From keeping parks safe and enhancing recreational opportunities, promoting greater cooperation with the school district and providing more opportunities for seniors, I will continue working for our community. |
