Property Tax Relief

I am in favor of HB 1275, The School Property Tax Elimination Act.
This legislation will eliminate all school and nuisance taxes and provide funding for all Pennsylvania schools. This will be accomplished over a four year phase out of school property tax at a rate of 25% per year. It will NOT increase the current 6% state sales tax but rather broaden it to include more goods and services.

The money generated from this legislation will be placed in an exclusive operating fund to which all schools will be funded. In addition, the School Property Tax Elimination Act completely eliminates the taxing ability of local school boards and guarantees that all students in Pennsylvania will have the opportunity for a quality education .
