About Babette Serving the 182nd District for the past 24 years, Babette is the senior most woman legislator in the PA House of Representatives. She is the Chairperson of the State Government Committee. Babette also serves on the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee. Currently, Babette is fighting to increase state funding for public libraries, Medicaid, and public transportation. She supports raising the minimum wage, appropriating state funds for embryonic stem cell research, finding a dedicated funding source for mass transit, and taxing all tobacco products, not just cigarettes. She has a proud history in the struggle to end discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender, race, religion, age, income, and disability. Babette is the only member of the General Assembly who does not own, lease, or even drive a car. Babette depends on public transportation to get everywhere. In addition to her legislative efforts, she is affiliated with multiple organizations and boards, such as: The Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union Franklin's Paine Skate Park Multi-Cultural Youth Exchange Center City Proprietors Association Young Involved Philadelphia National Organization of Women League of Conservation Voters Jewish Labor Committee Action Alliance for Senior Citizens Babette is a mother of 2 children and grandmother of 6. She received her B.A. from Queens College and her J.D. from Rutgers-Camden School of Law. |
