Congratulations on your plans to run for the seats that are available on the Alameda County Central Committee. This is the most important part of the whole organization.

Let me quote a proverb I heard many years ago, that made me realize how important laying the groundwork of any organization is: For the want of nail, the horseshoe was lost. For want of the horseshoe, the horse's leg was lost. For want of the horse, the rider was lost. And for want of the rider, the battle was lost. For want of the battle, the kingdom was lost.

This is why running and winning your position is so important. But you are all capable of saving the battle, the army, even the world. Your generation is the one we are turning over the world to, to fix: Unfortunately, it is a confused, mixed-up, messed-up world.

You are the foundation of the organization, because you will be representing the grassroots people in every house, in every community under your supervision. You have what it takes, and that is, the political solution to the problem with the gift of statesmanship, which is important. The friendly approach, what's good or bad about your communities. Ask them to invite the community to have meetings and if you are there, make it interesting. You can pull back that dark curtain of timidity, apathy, and unconcern, including the youth and older people. Don't forget to have open discussions and give as many who wish to conduct the opening of the discussions with your supervision, if needed.

Remember, this is your day and your world. Though this is a seriously messed-up world, with Lyn's and Helga's wisdom and experience you can't go wrong. You are building the foundation for bigger and better positions (be sure you keep your mind and body clean), so don't stop keeping your eyes on the prize (President). Above all, keep your hand in the Hand (God's) of the man who troubles the waters. To get to the top, be kind, patient, and loving, as well as truthful. Remember:

The height of your success is not reached by a single bound
But we build the ladder from which we climb
From the lowly earth to the vaulted skies
And we mount its summit round by round

Again, my congratulations for your success,
