Full Biography for Robert T. Klein

My name is Robert Klein and I hope to serve as your central committee member. I'm anything but a "fair-weather fan" to supporting the party. While still at Acalanes High School, I organized student anti-war marches and served on the board of the Lamorinda Democratic Club. My goal was to bring students into the political process. I was also a Walnut Creek Dean meetup co-host. Building on this experience at UC Berkeley where I am currently a student, I was a consultant to the Contra Costa United Democratic Campaign and put together the initial Bay Area primary field campaign for Phil Angelides. Last year, I was elected delegate to the California State Party and am proud to serve as your representative from the 14th Assembly District. But since I wanted a truly global perspective, two years ago I spent 6 months in China at Beijing Normal University and a year at Sciences Po in Paris, France. While abroad, I weathered the rain for hours during the 2008 Global Primary to make sure Democrats had a warm greeting and a Barack Obama flyer as they went to vote. Now glad to be coming back home to the East Bay, I want to use my political experience, progressive values, and personal dedication to serve all the Democrats of Contra Costa's 2nd Supervisoral District. At 20 years old, I would be an excellent representative of the 2nd District on the Contra Costa Democratic Central Committee. I appreciate your support and ask for the opportunity to serve as your representative this June 3. |
