Full Biography for Michael Karbassi
Candidate for |

|
Born and raised in Fresno's District 2, Michael Karbassi attended local public schools, including Malloch Elementary, Tenaya, Bullard, and Clovis West. While at Fresno State, Michael was very active in student government serving as a senator and as a representative on numerous campus committees. He also studied abroad in Sweden attending Jonkoping International Business School in order to continue his study of entrepreneurship and management. The Karbassi family has had a long history in business. Over thirty years ago, Michael's father was working as an auditor in Chicago when he decided to come to Fresno to visit a friend from college. During his trip, he came to realize that Fresno would be an ideal place to raise a family and a place with endless opportunities. So he bought a home and made northwest Fresno the family's permanent home. Soon after moving to Fresno, the family business Persian Rug Collections was founded and it has successfully operated for over 29 years. Michael has worked in the family business since age six and is now a co-owner. Like his father did over thirty years ago, Michael believes that Fresno is poised to offer new opportunities. Given his vast business background, Michael's goal is to provide northwest District 2 with quality services and to work on issues such as improving air quality, job creation, revitalizing downtown, and cleaning up our neighborhoods. He is currently walking District 2 neighborhoods and meeting residents door-to-door. |
