Limited Constitutional Government, National Sovreignty

By Roger L. Eshleman

Candidate for Member, Republican Party County Central Committee; County of Los Angeles; Assembly District 39

This information is provided by the candidate
Our Federal Government has become too large. Spending is out of control. Power is over-centralized, particularly in the Executive Branch. The Constitution is loosely interpreted and the Bill of Rights are being eroded. Our Foreign Policy has become interventionist, with troops in over 120 nations.
The Constitution mandates that powers not specifically given to the Federal Government are reserved for the individual States.

Over the years the Federal Government has increased grants to the States for education, welfare, various construction projects, etc., which (with the exception of Federal highways,) really should be the business of the States. Strings are attached to the offer of funds: increased control by the Federal government, trampling on Constitutional mandates. And because the funds are over and above what the Federal government has to spend, this results in a budget deficit and increased borrowing. Taxpayers are responsible for paying the interest on this debt. A large portion of the federal grants are wasted on bureaucracy and inefficiency.

This trend needs to be gradually reversed.
