The Constitution provides for a well-regulated militia and that the right of citizens to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
Various attempts over the years have been made to infringe on this right. Gun owners, aside from gang members, are very responsible people. Gun ownership reduces crime. Restrictions on law abiding citizens only gives gangs more power, as they don't follow the law anyway and will find ways to arm themselves.
