Planning Our AreaBy Marc A. MillerCandidate for Council Member; Proposed City of Menifee Valley | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
We have a history of Gold prospecting which makes us very unique. In 1999 I became a representative to the Local Agency Formation Council (Menifee Valley Community Economic Development Council 501c3 MVCEDCO)which was recognized by the state agency LAFCO due to our boundaries. The boundaries at that time were Menifee, Quail Valley and Sun City. In 2002 I completed the five year review to keep our boundaries, and move us forward from a Community of Interest (C.O.I.), to a United Community (U.C.) this was one more step to Cityhood. In 2007 we went before LAFCO for another extension (cityhood was being proposed at that time). Part of the study was to show we had a unique history (MENIFEE WILSON) who founded the area on gold prospecting, as well as the Ranchers and Farmers in the area. Our boundaries were kept intact, and we moved further, closer into cityhood. Due to the integration of the Riverside County Integrated Plan (RCIP) in 2003 it was necessary to preserve our identity and unique history. Overlays were eliminating our tax base (job growth area) Efforts were taken and Cityhood was driven to where it is today! I am the only candidate for city council that was part of the process as stated above. |
