Public SafetyBy Adam HillCandidate for County Supervisor; San Luis Obispo County; Supervisorial District 3 | |

The primary responsibility of local government is to provide for public safety. That's why I'm endorsed by SLO County Deputy Sheriffs and SLO Firefighters.I will be a strong advocate for strengthening public safety, and put our community at the forefront on protection, prevention, and preparedness. Here are a few areas of public safety that need much better leadership: The Meth Problem: The sale and use of methamphetamine, or "Meth," is greatly increasing and poses a threat to us all. Meth addicts break into our homes and our cars, create hazards in neighborhoods and public places, and endanger children. Education and prosecution are not enough. We certainly need to open a viable detox center in our County. More importantly, we must do whatever is needed to reduce meth use and fight any influx of gang activity. Emergency Preparedness: Last year, the Grand Jury issued a report titled "Diablo Canyon: San Luis Obispo's Katrina?" In this report there were several important findings and sensible recommendations. I will hold public hearings to ensure that these recommendations are fully considered and implemented if feasible. The community deserves to know that their elected officials are doing everything possible to keep them safe. |
