Jim Patterson has demonstrated success and holds a clear vision for our future:
- Providing accessibility through regular office hours in Atascadero and San Luis Obispo.
- Advocating "Smart Growth" principles at the Board of Supervisors and Council of Governments.
- Initiating a strategic planning process for the Board to aid in County-wide priority setting and budgeting.
- Supporting local control through creation of the Creston Advisory Body and South Atascadero's TDC Plan.
- Promoting agriculture through the Central Coast Ag Network and Resource Conservation Districts.
- Establishing the Oak Resources Advisory Committee, resulting in a county-wide assessment of our valuable oak woodland resources.
- Expanding opportunities for sustainable energy and transportation through groups such as SLO Green Build, Regional Rideshare and Strategic Energy Alliance (SEA) for Change.
- Enhancing recreational opportunities by increasing funding for our County Parks Department.
The core of Jim's efforts has been to promote and support sustainable development, economic prosperity, and public health and safety, while preserving our priceless natural environment. He has been successful in expanding the conversation, raising new issues and directing attention to the challenges necessary to overcome in order to keep San Luis Obispo County the place we want to live, work, and raise our families.
