Dear Democratic Voters, Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is RICK BONILLA and I am running for reelection to the San Mateo County Democratic Central Committee in the 2nd Supervisorial District. I have lived in San Mateo County since 1958 and first moved to the city of San Mateo in 1975. I have been a member of the Carpenters Union since 1977. Currently, I am employed as a Field Representative by the Northern California Carpenters Regional Council. I have been very active in local government since 1996 and in 2006 I was appointed to the Public Works Commission by the San Mateo City Council. In 1992, I became aware of the importance of political activism and have volunteered in every election cycle since then. I have been endorsed by San Mateo City Council members including Mayor Carole Groom, Council member Jack Matthews and former Mayors Sue Lempert & Claire Mack. I am also endorsed by the San Mateo Central Labor Council AFL-CIO as well as the San Mateo Building and Construction Trades Council AFL-CIO. SMUHSD Board member Dave Pine has endorsed me. I have the endorsement of Kate Bond of the City of San Mateo Parks and Recreation Commission. Additional endorsers are listed in the endorsements area. If elected, I will continue to take a stand and voice my concerns on issues that matter to all of us; whether protecting health benefits or the opportunity to retire with dignity. As a Union Representative, I do just that for working people everyday. I feel that the Democratic Party must WIN in November and am committed to working hard every day so we can once again have confidence in the security of OUR VOTE. To that end I am an active member of the SM County Democratic Central Committee's Election Integrity Committee. Two years ago I wrote here the following: "We can't count on the President's misfortune, miscalculations and bad luck to turn this country around." Obviously, and sadly, this has turned out to be all too true. I believe that we, the Democrats of California, need to take the lead and raise the standard for our fellow Democrats across the country. We must start by taking back the White House and not stop until we control the Congress, the Governor's office and the State Legislature. The current Republican regime has taken this country backward--we cannot afford to wait! It is my strongly held conviction that if we organize today, we can experience brighter tomorrows, where everyone can live in peace with health, happiness and abundance. We can start to reach these goals by voting for RICK BONILLA on June 3, 2008. |
