Community service has been an essential part of my life. In high school, I was part of a puppet troupe that staged shows to help children make positive life choices. In college, I tutored students from disadvantaged families in a head start program. More recently, I joined the Dublin Rotary Club and its mission to provide services and funding to people in need both locally and internationally. Additionally, I have been serving on the Dublin local advisory board of Camp Galileo to help Dublin's children discover and pursue their passion for learning. Since June 2007, I have been serving on the Board of Directors for the Home Owners Association of the Terraces at the Dublin Ranch Villages. Drawing on the business discipline I learned from my MBA training and the experience I have acquired as a corporate accounting manager, I have been successful in fulfilling my fiduciary duty to every home owner at the Terraces. In February 2008, I had the honor of graduating from the Dublin 101 program, which is also known as the "Dublin Leadership Academy." This five-month course provides an overview of how our City Hall operates, where Dublin has been, where it is going, and what everyone who lives in or commutes to Dublin can do to contribute to our community. To share my excitement about Dublin's impressive achievements and vast potential, I began publishing the Around Dublin blog (http://arounddublin.blogspot.com/) in 2007 to provide residents with updates on the wonderful developments and to highlight the dynamic spirit throughout Dublin. The overwhelmingly positive feedback the blog has received illustrates the enthusiasm so many of our neighbors share in embracing the future of Dublin. The decisions our City Council makes over the next decade will have a tremendous impact on our future, and I am running for no other reason than to be your voice as we realize Dublin's true potential. |
