I have been a resident of the JSUSD since 1975, and have been closely involved with the district since 1989. I have been working in education since I was in college. As a student, I volunteered to work in a counseling program (much like Big Brothers and Big Sisters) with troubled teenagers. I have taught students of a variety of ages, in a wide variety of settings, for more than 27 years. While working toward my Early Childhood Credential, I taught in a children's center in Martinez, California. While working toward my Multiple Subject Credential, I was a teacher's assistent in a Special Education classroom at John Swett Elementary School in Martinez. During the late 1980's I worked as an Environmental Educator at Marine World Africa USA began my association with John Swett Unified School District when my son, Joey, began Kindergarten in 1989. I remained a volunteer throughout his K-12 education, . Throughout all 13 years I was a member of the PTA and/or PTSA. I also worked as a substitute teacher and Independent Study instructor. During my years working for MUSD I was also a Second Grade teacher. I am currently a teacher at the Lindsay Wildlife Museum in Walnut Creek, working with a variety of ages, Preschool through adult, both at the museum, and offsite. In addition, I have also been a volunteer with the Museum's Wildlife Rehabilitation program, in the wildlife hospital, since 1985. |
