- Served for 16 years as Chief of the Laboratory Medicine Service and Director of Clinical Laboratories at San Francisco General Hospital, with responsibility for ~150 employees and faculty members and a multimillion dollar operating budget
- Provided clinical services under the joint administration of the University of California and the City & County of San Francisco
