Liberty Energy

By Don "Renaissance-Man" Robinson

Candidate for Council Member; City of Banning

This information is provided by the candidate
My position is for responsible growth that will not tolerate pollution of our air or water, emission of odors, risks to health, or cause the decline in perceived or real values of our community.
I would like to clarify, for the record, the statement that "Citizens Against Toxic Sludge" have placed on their website stating, "Don Robinson even went further stating that he does not know what "sewage sludge" is."

In a neighborhood meeting, I was grilled by two people whom I later learned were "M. Cashe'" or "Mikael Cashe" and her friend Philip, alleged leaders in the campaign against Liberty Energy. I am not sure about his name, because he would not sign the registration sheet provided, so I would know who he was. Philip did most of the questioning and became increasingly confrontational. He tried to put words in my mouth on the Liberty Energy project, when I advised Philip I was still gathering facts on the proposed project.

I have never said, "I do not know what sewer sludge is." These comments are coming from ruthless people who demand you not vote for incumbents; John Machisic and Barbara Hanna. Now, however they are endorsing Barbara Hanna? Quite a turn around.

I am running on a platform of being Accessible, Fair and Experienced. For me to be Fair, I must weigh out all the options for all of the people of Banning and make a Fair decision based on the facts presented. I don't believe a council member should make a decision until the issue comes before them and they hear all of the evidence. Every individual and business in Banning has the right to due process and the right to a fair hearing. This will be true of any business that will come before the city council for consideration of their project and request to be heard. I will not place myself in a position that would preclude me from making a fair decision later on.

The strategy of some of the candidates to voice their opinion now, on proposed projects, then bow out, or change their minds when it comes time to vote, may be the easy way out, but is not fair to the people of Banning. We have seen this change of position too many times on the city council.

I live, work and shop in Banning. It is in the best interest of me and my family, and all the Banning existing or new businesses and residents I hope to represent here in Banning, for me to give a fair opinion followed by a fair decision to all citizens of Banning and the Pass Area.

There are positive aspects to the Liberty Energy Project; however I will not support the project if it were to produce an odor, degrade the air or water, or otherwise compromise the health of our residents and visitors to the Pass Area. We need these kinds of absolute guarantees from Liberty Energy. My philosophy will carry forward to any project that comes before the city council.

I applaud those who have not buckled under to fear and intimidation by a small group of agitators, who give more weight to unsigned fliers then scientific data, and have not prejudged and given a decision on this project or any other project until they have heard and explored all the Facts!

Again, I reiterate, my position is for responsible growth that will not tolerate pollution of our air or water, emission of odors, risks to health, or cause the decline in perceived or real values of our community.

If you don't understand how important the democratic process is, ask a veteran, we can all remind you. Vote November 4th. It is a very important election at every level.
