PlatformBy Paul G. St MartinCandidate for Council Member; City of Beaumont | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Business Owner for over 20 years, Decorated Veteran, Active Rotarian, Co-Founder, Pass Business Connection, Current Board Member, Carol's Kitchen, Current Chairman, Beaumont Planning Commission, Former Chamber Board Member, Ernst & Young "Business Owner of the Year" nominee 1999. As a business owner in the City of Beaumont and a small business advocate I understand the importance of having an ear on the City Council willing to address the needs of family owned businesses. I am a proponent of bringing more industry to our city to provide a balanced growth and more jobs of all skill levels. I believe we should be seeking out and finding ways to attract clean and safe manufacturing and research companies to either move their operations to or open satellite facilities in our great City. We have the land, work force and transportation corridors to make Beaumont the ideal location for any growing company. Keeping our citizens employed locally can reduce the high cost of commuting, which is taking a big bite out of most household incomes and it also allows more time for family activities. Keeping more people in the city boundaries can also help retail sales; less commuting costs more disposable money. |
