Managing Proper Growth in the housing sector

By Brian P. Lowery

Candidate for Council Member; City of Santa Clara; Seat 6

This information is provided by the candidate
It will be important to maintain proper growth in both the city housing sector and infrastructure in order to maintain afordable housing within the city of Santa Clara
Managing proper growth in the housing sector of our city will be an important task since there is so little available land left. A top priority of mine will be to educate those responsible, that growth in the housing market is sustainable only if there is comparable growth in our business sector. Additionally, unchecked housing growth puts additional pressure on city resources and infrastructure. I will work hard with our city planners to ensure that we do not build more than our city can support each year and that we do our best to build affordable housing that our younger citizens can purchase. This is very vital to our larger businesses who must maintain a vibrant work force that will enable them to compete in today's market place. One additional and important area of growth that our city needs is an attractive 'downtown area.' The redevelopment of Santa Clara's downtown will go a long way in restoring civic pride and making our city an attractive place for the businesses which are here and businesses who might wish to locate here from other areas. I promise to promote a vision for a 'downtown' area that all Santa Clara residents can be proud of.
