Candidate for
Council Member; City of Escondido

For the past eighteen years I have been actively involved in making Escondido a wonderful community in which to live , raise a family and enjoy recreation. I assisted in transforming our beautiful downtown Grand Avenue serving on the Downtown Revitalization Committee. I worked on our transportation issues serving five years on the Transportation and Vehicle Parking Commission and I helped plan Escondido's future as a Planning Commissioner for four years.

Since being first elected in 2000 my goals remain to improve Escondido's IMAGE AND APPEARANCE with a strong emphasis on economic development, job creation and public safety. The Los Arboles and Park Place neighborhood improvements are complete improving our image and appearance. New areas of involvement are Mission Park and numerous other neighborhoods long since neglected and I have been personally involved in every neighborhood group.

Service on the Economic Development subcommittee I negotiated for the movie theater complex, Mingei Museum, East Valley improvements and Home Depot and much more. I instituted the Keep Kids Alive Drive 25 safety program for our children. We are gaining two Marriott hotels, new car dealerships and upscale shops in the soon to be $200 million expansion of Westfield North County.

I have or currently am representing Escondido regionally as Chair of North County Transit District, SANDAG Transportation Committee, SANDAG Borders Committee, I-15 Interregional Partnership, San Dieguito River Park JPA and Escondido Creek Watershed Association.

There is much more work to do and with your help we can make Escondido the type of community that our grandchildren will choose as a place to live and work and raise their families.
