Oceanside Unified is reducing the drop out rate!
The high school drop out rate across the county has garnered headlines. I, too, shared this concern. Two years ago the board approved the opening of the three Academic Recovery Centers, at Oceanside High, El Camino High and Claire Burgner. These independent study centers have slowed the drop out rate in Oceanside and stablized the enrollment of the district. Students who have or would have dropped out of school are now completing their education and graduating with their class or earning a GED, a general education diploma. The success stories of the students completing their education in the Academic Recovery Centers are heart warming to hear. The good news is that new stories are developing every day.
