The Record of Phil MonroePhil Monroe Age: 73 Councilmember /Retired Naval Officer (CAPTAIN) Working to keep Coronado a beautiful village is my first priority. We have the best public facilities, infrastructure, and finances of any City in the State. I am proud of our accomplishments, the path we are on, and the part my decisions have contributed to making Coronado a great place to live. My record: Government Experience: Eight Years Councilmember; Five years Planning Commission, last two Chairman. Six years SANDAG and Metropolitan Transit System Board Member. Leadership: Thirty years leadership and executive experience in the Navy. Highest rank: Captain. Highest award: Legion of Merit. Served twice as Commanding Officer; led 5600 personnel with $480 million public budget. Community Service: Rotary Club, St. Paul's Methodist Church, Chamber of Commerce, Historical Association, Schools Foundation, SAFE. Board Member; Coronado Flower Show. My focus: Public safety, fiscal responsibility, historic preservation. Working together, we can keep our hospital open, complete our building projects, (Animal Care Facility -Tennis Center - Boat House - Marina Center), enhance our public art, reopen our theater and increase the viability of our business district. Organizations like PAWS and SAFE deserve our support. Above all, as a community, we can.... ....preserve our unique and wonderful character. Vote Phil Monroe to keep Coronado moving forward! |
