- A common sense approach to improving education
-
During my four terms as your elected representative on the Sonoma County Board of Education, I have always placed the welfare of our students above the bureaucracy of public education.
- Parental rights deserve first consideration

I strongly support public charter schools. Were it not for public charter schools, the level of frustration with public education among many parents would be even higher. Each time a meritorious petition for a public charter school is granted by a Local or County Board, several hundred dedicated and resourceful parents remain within the support structure of public education where they are desperately needed.
- Fiscal responsibility in a chaotic system of funding education

I am not a "rubber-stamp" for administrators or self-interest groups. I do not believe that hob-nobbing with or dropping names of state level officers accomplishes much; except to stroke an ego. What I have accomplished over the past sixteen years has, by intent, been low-keyed. Getting results is more important than getting publicity.
