What are the two most pressing issues you will face if you are elected? (50 word limit) Answer from Thomas G. Brown: Business Development & Job Creation and School Funding Increasing the State's Business Development in the District is my top priority. Our method of school funding was ruled unconstitutional years ago. The State has ignored the issue for far to long. Fair and adequate funding of all Ohio Schools is urgently needed, now. 2. How will you address each of those issues? (100 word limit) Answer from Thomas G. Brown: Encouraging businesses to relocate into the district or to expand their business here in the District will help to create and provide better jobs. Using TIFs, State and Federal grants, tax credits, and expansion of the brown field redevelopment projects all while reducing the overly complicated bureaucracy currently required by law will enable redevelopment in the district. The Ohio Supreme Court ruled our method of school funding unconstitutional years ago. It is time to shift the total burden of funding the State's public education system from the shoulders of property owners. Fair and adequate funding of all Ohio Schools is urgently needed. 3. What role should the state play in updating Ohio's aging infrastructure, such as roads, bridges, and transit services and equipment, in order to promote economic revitalization? (100 word limit) Answer from Thomas G. Brown: That State needs to work hand-in-hand with the Federal Government as well as each State County, City and Township to address both the State's and local needs. Without a strong infrastructure, the State and local governments will not be able to have a strong economic revitalization. 4. What role do state legislators have in reforming health care in the U.S.? (100 word limit) Answer from Thomas G. Brown: State Legislators have the job of insuring that both the State and their individual district's citizens have access to the needed healthcare services.
