As the chairman of the House Labor Relations Committee, I continue to play a more active part in helping meet the needs of both workers and employers in Pennsylvania. The Labor Relations Committee considers legislation dealing with the state's work force, including issues specifically directed at the relationship between employers and employees. During the last few years, the committee has worked on improvements to the statewide Uniform Construction Code and increases to the state's minimum wage as well as other workforce development issues. The committee also has legislative oversight of the Department of Labor and Industry, as well as the workers' compensation and unemployment compensation systems.
