After thoughtful reflection and serious consideration, Craig decided to run for office because he believes that the citizens of the 7 th District have no voice in Washington, D.C. He believes that the job of a Congressman is not a political springboard, but instead is a job about taking the everyday worries and concerns of the 7 th District to Washington, D.C., for action. His life-long commitment to public service guides Craig to the firm belief that " this job is about service" to his neighbors and community - not self promotion or partisan, ideological platforms.

Values

Craig's wife - Jennifer - shares in his vision, values and commitment to being the voice for their community. When they decided to run for office, Jennifer gave Craig a special gift to hang on his wall. It lists four simple virtues: "Humility, Gratitude, Grace and Faith" . These words embody the culture of Craig's campaign and point to the character of the man, his marriage and his family.

Craig believes in this great nation and the people who have, for generations, made the sacrifices to protect us and preserve our way of life. Craig was in New York City on September 11 th , when terrorists attacked our soil. What struck Craig in the days after September 11 th was the quiet sense of purpose and determination that fell over the citizens of New York. That impression has been a lasting source of motivation and focus for Craig to this day.

He believes in God and is unashamed of his relationship with his creator. He cares deeply about his neighbors and is willing to defend their rights, whether in an F-18, in a federal courtroom or on the floor of Congress. Craig has been a champion for his nation, his community and his neighbors.

Craig lives in Concord Township, Delaware County, with his wife Jennifer, daughter and two step-children. The 7 th District is his home - where he lives, where his kids go to school, where he pays taxes, where he attends church, and where he intends to spend the rest of his life.

Service - A Family Tradition

Craig fought in combat as a U.S. Marine against Saddam Hussein's Army and Republican Guard. Craig fought crime in our streets as a federal prosecutor . Now, he is fighting for the good people of the 7 th Congressional District of Pennsylvania as a candidate, a neighbor, and a friend to ensure that the values and priorities of this district are clearly represented in Washington, DC.

Craig comes from a family that is rich with military tradition and combat service. His father and step-father both served two tours of combat as Air Force pilots during the Vietnam War. Craig's father received the Silver Star for his combat service with the "Ravens" - a covert forward air control squadron - and Craig's step-father received the Distinguished Flying Cross for his combat service with the Marines in Vietnam. Craig's brother, Scott, fought as a Marine infantry platoon commander during the defense of the Kurds in Northern Iraq during Operation Desert Storm.

Craig has followed in his family's tradition. In service to his country, Craig flew 56 combat missions in the F/A-18D ("Hornet") as a Weapons and Sensor Officer during the Gulf War of 1991. Craig received the Air Medal seven times , twice for particular acts of valor and heroism during combat. Craig's squadron, the VMFA(AW)-121 Green Knights, often flew at dangerously low altitudes over Kuwait and Southern Iraq to locate the enemy, mark targets with rockets and direct our bombers to enemy positions.

Education - Experience - Excellence

In 1987, Craig received his undergraduate degree from Duke University. While at Duke, Craig was a member of the Blue Devils varsity football team and was a decathlete on the varsity track team.

While in the Marines, Craig was selected to become a Marine Judge Advocate (JAG). He attended the University of Florida College of Law , where he finished 7 th in his class of nearly 200, graduating with high honors. After completing his law degree, Craig attended the Naval Justice School in Newport, Rhode Island, for follow-on training to become a JAG. Craig finished that training first in his class, and he received the American Bar Association Award for having the highest grades of any student during the 1997 calendar year. In fact, Craig still holds the school record for the highest total grades ever achieved at the Naval Justice School. Craig then became the chief prosecutor for the largest base in the Marine Corps. He prosecuted cases involving murder, manslaughter, rape, drug distribution, illegal alien smuggling, molestation and child pornography (among others).

Craig left active-duty service with the Marines in 2000, when he attended the Columbia University School of Law to study for his Master's in legal philosophy. Craig graduated with high honors as a Harlan Fisk Stone scholar from Columbia University, while continuing to serve his country in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves.

After a clerkship with the Honorable J.L. Edmondson, the Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, Craig served the Department of Justice as an Assistant United States Attorney in both Colorado and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As a federal prosecutor, Craig prosecuted many cases involving illegal immigration, illegal firearms possession by convicted felons, drug-distribution organizations, assaults on federal officers, identity theft, fraud on senior citizens and fraud on the federal government. In Philadelphia, Craig served on the Joint Terrorism Task Force , fighting the terrorist threat on our homeland. Craig also served on a task force designed to target violent criminal organizations that were moving out of the larger cities, like New York and Philadelphia, and into our suburban communities. Finally, Craig was a member of the Critical Incident Response Team in Philadelphia, coordinating Department of Justice resources in support of local first responders to a crisis situation.

Commitment

During this same time, Craig was mobilized back to active duty with the Marines, where he served as Deputy Legal Counsel to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff . Craig was the ethics advisor to the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs. Additionally, Craig advised the Chairman on all federal litigation involving detainees held at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Afghanistan and Iraq. In that capacity, Craig also served as an advisor to the staff of the National Security Council, Office of the Vice President, Department of State, Department of Justice and the Solicitor General of the United States (whose job it is to argue cases on appeal to the United States Supreme Court). During his mobilization back to active duty, Craig served General Richard Myers , United States Air Force (retired) and General Peter Pace , United States Marine Corps (retired). For his service to the Chairman, Craig received the Joint Meritorious Service Medal .

Craig has recently been selected for promotion to the rank of Colonel for his 21 years of great service to the United States Marines.
