Veterans & Military FamiliesBy Benita DuranCandidate for United States Representative; District 32 | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
The San Gabriel Valley is home to tens of thousands of veterans and military families. Although we call upon our men and women in uniform to battle, they should not return home to a battle of bureaucracy. One of my priorities is the eradication of homeless veterans. I will work to expand services such as comprehensive and culturally competent mental health treatment. I will work for better access to education and vocational programs, job placement and expanded family support services, which will nurture and foster a safe environment for military families. I will work to address the importance of diagnosis and treatment of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injury (TBI). We also have experienced an increase in female veterans; these brave women must have access to services such as FMLA, child care, mental health professionals, reproductive health services, employment, and more. |
