MAKE PUBLIC MEETING ACCESSIBLE With the Coraopolis Record no longer in print I feel that the community is missing a key connection to what's happening in town. A small group has made a gesture to the Moon Access Television Network in an effort to have the School Board and Coraopolis Council meeting put on TV. This will make the residents aware of issues and events that are coming up for a vote. Also I feel that this would allow the community to see how their elected officials conduct business. Then if they have a question they can call their representative and express their concerns. INVESTIGATE REDUCING COSTS THROUGH JOINT PURCHASING AND SERVICES In conjuction with the Multi-Municipality Planning Committee there are joint purchasing programs that will possibly help the borough save money on some of their utility purchases. I feel that we must try to investigate every avenue and program that we find or are made aware of that benefits the Coraopolis Community. MAKE CORAOPOLIS MORE "BUSINESS AND COMMUNITY FRIENDLY" I'm sure that most residents of Coraopolis feel like I do about "Cory". That it is a great place to live and raise children. We are close to all the great things that the Pittsburgh area has to offer but are still far enough away from all the hustle and bustle of big city life. The school has and continues to upgrade their programs and has made "Annual Yearly Progress" for the last 5 years. This AYP is a state requirement under No Child Left Behind. In order for Cory to stay financial viable we must joint together with the school, residents and merchants to promote and form a friendly enviroment First we need to engage the businesses in meetings to get their input. Who would know better than a business owner what would need to be done to inhance this area? I also feel that all of the businesses in Coraopolis should be promoted on the website. This will allow residents to know what services are available in town. This may be a big undertaking but the benefits can be rewarding not only for the merchants but also for the Coraopolis community. |
