Candidate for
Governing Board Member; El Monte Union High School District

Benjamin Escobedo, or as his friends call him, Ben, has been a lifelong resident of El Monte and a product of local schools. After his graduation from high school, he went on to continue his education at Pasadena City College and Chapman University.

Ben's experiences during his time in El Monte, prepared him as he pursued his educational and professional career. These experiences helped Ben become an adviser for a United States Member of Congress, a manager for a non-profit who helps under-represented communities in education, and civic engagement. Through all of these experiences, his most rewarding was as a teacher here in the San Gabriel Valley.

Throughout Ben's life, he has always made sure to give of his time, not only with different political campaigns but with his local church and organizations such as the American Diabetes Association and many different educational programs. Mr. Escobedo currently serves as an executive board member of the El Monte Coalition of Latino Professionals (emCLP) which serves students in the greater El Monte area. emCLP, which consists of different professionals from the community, mentors and provides scholarships to high school students going on to college. Ben is also a member of the El Monte/South El Monte Rotary and the South El Monte Sister Cities Association.

Ben is son to Juan and Elva Escobedo and currently resides in the City of El Monte which he has been a proud resident of for 32 years.
