Street and Sewer Infrastructure Review
Many present and former Councilpersons have spoken of the need to prioritize repairs and maintenance to the city's infrastructure, however, the sad reality is the condition of Hermosa Beach's streets and sewage-lines continue to deteriorate. The recent rupture of a water main directly adjacent to the Vons pavilion on PCH disrupted traffic and residents for several days. Although this incident was directly attributable to the negligence of an outside contractor, it vividly illustrated the underlying problem: Hermosa Beach is just one crack/break away from major disruption and expense for its residents.
The current economic reality dictates our city will continue to face budget challenges and constraints. It now becomes even more critical to more accurately predict revenue streams and any disruption to them, both currently and in the short-term. It is only by managing each component of the municipal budget, from police overtime to staff expenditures that the City Council may effectively determine and allocate revenues for these needed repairs.
As your Council representative, my commitment to you is to diligently pursue the above objectives to effectively maintain and improve our infrastructures.
