On The Issues Preserve a high level of staffing by the Sheriff's Department Public safety must continue to be our city's top priority. I will work to find new sources of revenue to preserve and restore the levels of staffing by the Sheriff's Department in order to protect our residents, homes, and businesses. Protect the City's financial health by supporting sound fiscal management policies As a former member of the RPV Finance Advisory Committee, I know that our city needs to get the highest and best utilization of our tax dollars. We must continue that process and find other unique cost savings and new revenue sources especially with the current economic climate the county, state and private sector finds itself. As a councilman I will work hard to make sure that our city maintains a conservative financial reserve and that expenditures are carefully monitored. Additionally we must make sure that we have the funding required to address capital and infrastructure needs that affect property values and public safety. Encourage more companies to do business in Rancho Palos Verdes As President of the Harbor Association of Industry and Commerce, I work everyday to encourage economic development and job growth in the Palos Verdes Peninsula/Harbor Area. During these tough economic times, City Hall should be doing all it can to retain current businesses as well as attract new revenue-generating firms that will also create jobs for our residents. Support keeping taxes low As a Rancho Palos Verdes homeowner, I oppose increasing general city taxes. Support a comprehensive update of the General Plan Rancho Palos Verdes needs an updated General Plan that will reduce or eliminate some of the ongoing challenges faced by the city in regards to development and that will build a vision for our city for the next 20 years. Support open and responsible government by advocating transparency within the city council and government operations Over the past several years, our City Council and many citizens of RPV have had an adversarial relationship regarding access to city information and processes at City Hall. I will be an advocate for the residents and work to return trust and cooperation to this relationship. Protect current open space preserves and designate new areas for active recreation and ball fields As a father of three school-age children in the PVPUSD, I support a balance between passive environmental open space that is preserved as a legacy for future generations and the long-term development of active recreation options such as ball fields for our youth and residents. |
