Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Castaic Union School District

I have earned my Master of Arts degree in Educational Administration and Policy Studies through California State University, Northridge. I also have an MBA in Finance from Golden Gate University. I am a former Marine and a retired Oakland Police Officer. I have worked in education at the secondary level as a Business Education/Life Skills teacher and in an administrative position as Dean of Students. I currently work as an Intervention Coordinator and Testing Coordinator for a local school district. I am a fluent Spanish speaker.

As a father of three children in the Castaic District, ages 3, 7 and 14, and a member of the Castaic community for over eight years, I have an understanding of the various needs of our students. I began my teaching career at Castaic Middle School as a student teacher and substitute. This experience has provided me with an understanding of how this district operates and what it needs to continue to maintain the high educational standards we all want for our children.

I have been a coach for our district's youth at the Castaic Sports Complex in soccer, t-ball, basketball, and flag football. I have also served as a coach, referee and executive board member for Castaic/Val Verde AYSO. While on the AYSO board, I served as the treasurer and auditor for four years. I also served as board member and auditor for the Castaic Elementary PTA and as a Junior Achievement volunteer teacher at CES.
