Board Member; Lagunitas School District

Steve moved to the Valley in 1984. His 2 daughters graduated from the Montessori and Middle School Programs. He was elected to the School Board in 1991 and served through 2000 and was Board President for 4 of those years. During this time, he was a partner in a boutique training firm (Learning Center) that taught teamwork, communication and leadership skills to clients including IBM, Women.com Networks, SuccessFactors.com, Spirit Rock Meditation Center, UCSF Medical Center, and many others. The core of this work was how teamwork, communications and trust could convert any conflict situation into creative solution that would expand performance.

During Steve's tenure on the Board, some of the things he most celebrates include:

• Maintaining program integrity and whole child education
• Passing 2 Parcel Taxes and a $2.6 million Bond Measure
• Rehabbing the entire campus and building the new Middle School complex
• Helping to institute Interest Based Bargaining into the District
• Training Board and Staff in teambuilding skills
• Authoring the District's Communications Plan
• Myriad fundraising activities that raised thousands of dollars
