I have lived in Cupertino since 1985, where my wife and I raised our family and started a small business that we still operate today. When my children attended Lincoln Elementary School, my wife and I both served on the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) Board. In 1994, the Lincoln Elementary School community elected me to the school site council. By 1995, many friends and community members urged me to run for the Cupertino Union School District Board of Trustees (Cupertino School Board) to serve a broader community. With the support from citizens, I was elected to the Cupertino School Board in November 1995 and re-elected with the highest number of votes in 2003. I am honored to have served the Cupertino community and I am proud of my accomplishments. During my time on the school board, I made a conscientious effort to visit all 22 schools and district offices at least twice during the course of a school year. During my visits, I talked to the principle, teachers, students, classified employee and parents directly and gained the first hand information about our schools. In addition, I served four years on Cupertino Public Safety Commission. I am fully aware of the public safety issues in our city. I also volunteered and raised funds for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life project. As one of the fundraising committee members of Cupertino Veterans Memorial Project, I assisted with the completion of the memorial project. I believe in "Leading by example." |
