Long Term PlanningBy Ken BryantCandidate for Trustee; Township of Symmes | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Both real long term and contingency planning are performed in Symmes Township.Long Term Planning We discussed developing a Township 10-year Master Plan in 2006 and embarked on it in 2007. After requesting resumes and interviewing, we formed an Ad Hoc Master Plan Committee consisting of 5 residents from throughout the Township. We held 2 public hearings and solicited input from the residents in our newsletter and on the web site before selecting a consulting firm to guide the plan development. The Master Plan status was reviewed twice in open hearings with the Trustees, and the final plan was approved in June 2009. The final draft of the Township Master Plan is available on the Township Web Site. One of the key recommendations of the master plan was to initiate development of a Park Master Plan. That work has been initiated by the Township staff and a compilation of Park System Improvements completed in the last 5 years and a list of replacement equipment and maintenance items planned for the next 3 years has been added to the Township web site. Contingency Planning The current Township Emergency Plan was completed in 2006 and is due to be updated next year. This covers both emergency and disaster planning for a multitude of events. A Continuity of Government Plan is currently being worked and evaluated prior to being released. Health District updates on the H1N1 virus are continually updated on the web site and plans to combat the virus and local medical PODS locations will be announced shortly. |
