People's opinions and wishes matter more than politicians' corporate commitments
More than ever before the disconnect between what works for people and what is delivered by politicians has become evident. Too many career politicians are indebted to corporate interests (their "sponsors") and the money those interests use to buy policy. Working at the grassroots level - Democratic Clubs, Democratic Central Committee and even the state Democratic Party - provides a way to counter that influence. But it takes commitment, knowledge of the system and willingness to work to have the will of the people known, acknowledged, and put into effect. This is the value of spending the time required at County Central Committee.
