FAIRNESS IN THE LEGAL SYSTEMBy Douglas W. WeitzmanCandidate for Judge-Superior Court; County of Los Angeles; Office 35 | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
MY GOAL IS TO MAINTAIN FAIRNESS, HONESTY AND THE PURSUIT OF THE TRUTH IN ALL MATTERS THAT COME BEFORE ME. I FEEL THAT WITH OVER 29 YEARS EXPERIENCE AS A TRANSACTIONAL ATTORNEY, LITIGATION ATTORNEY AND WORKING FOR ALL TYPES OF COMPANIES AND PEOPLE, THAT I HAVE THE MOST EXPERIENCE OF EITHER OF THE OTHER CANDIDATES RUNNING AGAINST ME. I HAVE BEEN AN ATTORNEY FOR OVER 29 YEARS, AND A REAL ESTATE PROFESSIONAL FOR OVER 32 YEARS. I HAVE BEEN A VOLUNTEER JUDGE PRO TEM FOR THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES FOR ABOUT 14 YEARS. I VOLUNTEERED FOR THE COURT ON AVERAGE ABOUT 40 FULL COURT DAYS PER YEAR, AND WON AN AWARD FROM THE COURT EACH YEAR AS ONE OF THE TOP VOLUNTEERS. I ESTIMATE THAT I HAVE HEARD ABOUT 50,000 TRAFFIC ARRAIGNMENTS, TRAFFIC TRIALS, SMALL CLAIMS CASES, AND OTHER CASES AS ASSIGNED BY THE PRESIDING JUDGE. I FEEL THAT THE TRAINING THAT I RECEIVED, AS WELL AS THE ACTUAL HEARINGS THAT I PRESIDED OVER, AND THE RULINGS THAT I HAVE MADE MAKE ME UNIQUELY QUALIFIED FOR THIS POSITON. I ASK FOR YOUR VOTE ON JUNE 8, 2010 FOR JUDGE OF THE SUPERIOR COURT, OFFICE #35. |
