Candidate for
Council Member; City of Oceanside

Hello Oceanside Residents. My name is Ken Crossman, and I would be honored to be your representative on the Oceanside City Council. I emphasis "your representative" because I believe that the Oceanside Residents have been neglected for far too long. We often hear disparaging comments about wanting things to be better in our city. Now is your chance to help me make that happen. I bring a new vision and a new direction to the Oceanside political atmosphere.

My priorities for our city are:

• Fiscal Accountability. Our budget can not and should not rely solely on property taxes to fix the many shortfalls we are facing right now. Oceanside citizens deserve to know how funds are being spent that has resulted in the loss of many community services.
• Transparency in Government. Serious issues currently facing our city have gone unchanged by our current council members; issues such as the city's budget, crime and drugs on the street, and lack of community involvement in major concerns such as the proposed Charter City measure.
• Answerability to Citizens. Citizens come first! There is no room on a Council dais for special interests and personal agendas.
• Promoting Small Business Expansion. Oceanside has lost many small businesses due to the economy but also due to apathy on the part of city departments. We need to entice small businesses to reestablish themselves throughout out city.

We must look to our children and ensure they have a safe environment to live, excellent schools with equal opportunity for education and growth potential, positive outside activities, and qualified leaders.

Oceanside is a secret jewel in the San Diego County, with its premier location between San Diego and the Los Angeles area; ideal climate; beautiful beaches; excellent business parks such as Ocean Ranch; and friendly citizens.

More give and less take is in order in these lean and uncertain times. I bring stability, commitment, and a promise to you, the citizens, to provide a new vision and new direction for progress and success for all citizens of Oceanside. I will affect a positive change for you and will be your voice for progress.
