COMMANDER BEN HALL'S SIX POINT PLAN TO IMPROVE PUBLIC SAFETYBy Ben HallCandidate for Sheriff-Coroner; County of San Luis Obispo | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
1.REDUCE BUREAUCRACY Eliminate the unnecessary and controversial position of Undersheriff and save hundreds of thousands of dollars in wasteful administrative costs. Return those dollars to county taxpayers. 2.TRANSPARENCY Let the people have a closer look at the workings of the Sheriffs Department. Establish town hall meetings in different parts of the county. Add an "Ask Sheriff Hall" component to the Department website where people can submit questions directly to the Sheriff. Post Department budgets online so taxpayers can see where their money is being spent. 3.GANG INJUNCTIONS Establish gang injunctions at both the city and county level to crack down on gang members associating and plotting criminal activity or showing colors or symbols in public. 4.DRUG TESTING Encourage school boards to enact random drug testing of high school students and athletes to discourage drug use among our youth. 5.ELDER FRAUD UNIT Create a unit within the Sheriffs Department solely focused at rooting out fraud victimizing senior citizens the fastest growing form of fraud today -- and securing restitution. 6.ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION Train a Department Deputy as a U.S, Agent authorized to file charges in federal court against any illegal immigrant who has been convicted of a felony, is deported, but later re-enters the United States. |
