Improving Business ClimateBy Jack MobleyCandidate for Member of the State Assembly; District 17; Republican Party | |

Businesses are leaving because they are over taxed and over regulated. It seems the legislature in California is doing everything it can to drive businesses out of California. Higher taxes, out of control spending, more regulations and pandering to special interests are at the core of our economic problems. The state government has made it nearly impossible for businesses to survive because they do not understand the cause and effect their actions have on businesses in California. The loss of these organizations to other states means a loss of private sector jobs, the source of government revenues through taxes. Instead of creating an environment conducive to free enterprise and job creation, our state government is making California suitable only for endangered species and those who believe the solutions to our problems exist in government. The exodus of business enterprises leaving California is of Biblical proportions. It doesn't have to be this way. We can attract businesses back to California by cutting spending, reducing taxes, eliminating unnecessary regulations and still take care of our environment and preserve the unique California way of life. But we have to start now and we have to have legislators who are not afraid to make the hard decisions. We no longer have the luxury of excess revenues or an unlimited borrowing capacity. Our state is all but bankrupt and the blame is shared evenly by the politicians and the voters. The politicians made poor decisions and we voters kept sending them to Sacramento expecting them to make different choices. We need new people representing us, people who have created businesses and jobs and who understand what it means to invest everything they have in a dream and who have the will to succeed. Those are the people who will set California back on course. In fact, they are the same people who made California great in the first place. |
