Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Chico Unified School District

Andrea Lerner is a professor of American literature at California State University, Chico. Previously she was Director of University Honors Programs. She holds advanced degrees from Stanford and the University of Arizona.

Andrea and her husband have two sons, a sixth grader and an eighth grader in Chico Unified School District schools.

"I am running for the School Board because I believe in the public schools. I grew up in a single parent family, lived in tenement housing, and no one in my family had ever gone to college, but the education I received from the Boston Public Schools was outstanding. I teach in a public institution, and my children attend the public schools. I want every child in Chico to have the advantage of an excellent education."
