Political Philosophy for Jeffrey L. "Jeff" Adams
Candidate for |
||||
|
I agree with the following statements of great men and women in connection with public education: The office of a board member for the Mount Diablo Unified School District Board of Education is, and should remain, non-partisan. This is one area in which the importance of the subject (i.e. educating our children) can and must transcend political philosophy. I agree with the following writings of great men and women:
"If the children ... are untaught, their ignorance and vices will in future life cost us much dearer in their consequences than it would have done, in their correction, by a good education." -Thomas Jefferson
"The school is the last expenditure upon which America should be willing to economize." -Franklin D. Roosevelt
"We pay a price when we deprive children of he exposure to the values, principles and education they need to make them good citizens." -Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor
"Education costs money, but then so does ignorance." -Sir Claus Moser To that end, I believe the philosophy of a member of the Board of Education must be one of effective advocacy on behalf of our children and persistent work for great educational opportunities for all students. I intend to do just that. |
