Citrus Heights Council Member Steve Miller was appointed to fill a council vacancy in December of 2005 and was subsequently elected in 2006 to a four-year term. Steve served as Mayor in 2008. Currently he is serving as Chair of the Sacramento Regional Transit District Board. Steve also serves on the Metro Cable TV Commission and the Citrus Heights Regional Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Prior to becoming a Council member, Steve served on the Law Enforcement Community Advisory Committee that recommended Citrus Heights form its own police department and was President of the Resident's Empowerment Association of Citrus Heights (REACH). Steve graduated with the inaugural class of Leadership Citrus Heights in 2003-2004. Steve moved to Citrus Heights from his home town of Concord 24 years ago at the urging of his wife Nanette, a Sacramento native. They recently celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary and have two adult children Nicky and Travis and a granddaughter - Isabella. Nicky is married to Davidson Chimara and she is currently serving in the U.S. Army. Travis is completing his master's degree in education and engaged to be married in November to Tiffany Raffaelli. Steve graduated from Clayton Valley High School in 1976 and was Program Manager for student-run radio station KVHS 90.5 FM. As a teenager he volunteered at Camp Sierra for the Mentally Handicapped. After attending CSU Chico as a communications major he found his calling in construction and studied Design and Building Technology at Diablo Valley, Sierra and American River Colleges. Steve has worked in the construction industry for over 28 years and was a Building Construction Supervisor over-seeing inspectors and construction managers for the County of Sacramento before starting a construction consulting business in 2000. He owns a successful small business providing inspection, plan review and quality assurance oversight on public works and school projects. Coach "Sparky" (as Steve was known) coached Little League and served on the Board of Directors for Sunrise Girl's Softball and Citrus Heights PONY Baseball Leagues. He is very proud of the effort he led to have a Snack Bar built for the softball league at Citrus Heights Elementary. He is still very active in community service as a member of the Citrus Heights Lions and Rotary Clubs and as the Logistics Chair for the annual American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Citrus Heights. |
