Political Philosophy for Scott Kleinberg
Candidate for |
CUSD schools are well-regarded, and CUSD is a well-run and stable district. So far, we have avoided the financial turmoil seen in Sacramento and at other districts, and we continue to offer small class sizes, full-day kindergarten, and art, music and foreign language programs. Preserving these programs however will require difficult choices and negotiations. My financial background -- a CPA, CFO for a local technology company, and an MBA from Santa Clara University -- has added to the breadth of board leadership during this time of financial challenge. I provide a distinct perspective on the board, and I am committed to supporting our district's new superintendent during his transition. School should be about students. We need to provide a balanced education that challenges students and develops well-rounded young adults with strong character. Too often the focus is on other issues and groups, rather than funding key educational and after-school programs. Buildings, pensions and pay scales are important, but we must be careful when prioritizing them before our kids. As we deal with the state's budget shortfalls, we need consider all areas, including new approaches to pensions, tenure and performance assessment. Please take time to vote and please choose me to be your voice for our schools. |
