Political Philosophy for Michele T. Nelson, Ph.D.
Candidate for |
My political philosophy is one of "servant leadership." I have dedicated my entire professional career to serving community college students, first as a faculty member, as an academic administrator at Grossmont College and for the last twelve years, as a member of the Board of Trustees at Palomar College. I passionately believe in and am an advocate of our mission which is to prepare students to: Transfer to four year colleges or universities and to successfully complete their education. Acquire essential and relevant skills to productively enter the workforce and benefit our local economies. Obtain additional skills for career advancement which in turn benefits local business and industry by upgrading employee skills. As a board member I Will act on behalf and for the benefit of North County. Advocate for our college and those it serves. Commit time and effort to governance responsibilities. Work to shape consensus and find shared interests among groups and individuals. Serve without personal gain. I am accountable only to you the electorate. I take no external campaign contributions from PACs or companies. Instead I will serve you in an open minded , fair way, beholden to no one.
